A woman in a black sports top and burgundy shorts performs a pole fitness move, gripping the pole with confidence and strength. She is smiling and positioned in a bright, modern studio with warm lighting, wooden flooring, and large windows. The studio is spacious and inviting, with potted plants and soft ambient lighting in the background, conveying the welcoming, beginner-friendly atmosphere of The Sunday Pole Club.

About

Hi, I’m Steph, the person behind The Sunday Pole Club!

From 2012-2016 I taught pole fitness classes in Oxford, and I absolutely loved it. After having children, life got busy and I took a long break from pole. But I always missed it. It gave me so much – physical strength and fitness, but also confidence and an amazing sense of community too.

Now living in Dorchester, I wanted to get back into pole, but there wasn’t anything locally, so I decided to create it myself.

The Sunday Pole Club is a small, friendly group that meets on Sunday evenings for fun, welcoming pole fitness classes. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, everyone is welcome. We focus on building strength, confidence, and learning at your own pace. No pressure, competition, or comparing yourself to anyone else. The studio doesn’t have mirrors, so the focus is on how you feel, not how you look.

The Sunday Pole Club is a not-for-profit passion project alongside my day job. It exists simply because I love pole and want to share that experience with others. Any profits are reinvested back into the club, helping us improve the classes, buy new equipment, and, over time, create social events where our community can connect outside of class too.

A close-up, photographic image of a single pole fitness station: a gleaming stainless-steel pole rising from a circular, matte-black base, surrounded by thick, colorful crash mats in coral, aqua, and charcoal gray. The scene is set in a minimalist studio with no mirrors, just a soft, textured sage-green wall and a few potted plants with wide, glossy leaves in simple ceramic pots. Warm, diffused pendant lighting from above creates subtle highlights on the pole and gentle shadows on the mats. Shot from a low angle with shallow depth of field, the composition feels dynamic and energetic, evoking the fun, supportive vibe of a laid-back Sunday pole session.

What Makes Us Different

No Mirrors, No Pressure

Our studio is completely mirror-free. Progress is measured by how you feel, what you learn, and how much stronger you become, not how you look.

Truly Beginner-Friendly

Never tried pole before? No experience is needed, and every class is designed so you can join at any stage and feel welcome!

Strength Over Tricks

Pole is about building real, functional strength, confidence, and body awareness. The impressive tricks are a bonus!

A Relaxed Vibe

Good music, a laid-back atmosphere, and no pressure to perform. Just time to move, challenge yourself, and enjoy the process.

A Supportive Community

Meet new people, share laughs, learn together, and celebrate every small win along the way.

Your Sunday Evening Reset

End your weekend feeling energised, and confident. And maybe with a few achey muscles!

Classes

Our Sunday 5–6pm class guides you through beginner and intermediate friendly pole moves and strength drills. If you are more advanced you are welcome to join and we will find some moves or combinations to inspire and challenge you!

Our 6–7pm Pole Jam gives you relaxed practice time to freestyle, repeat favourites, cheer others on, and rest whenever you need. All abilities are welcome, although a jam is probably not the best class for you if you have never attended before as there is no formal teaching. Totally free if you purchase a Club Pass!

All our classes are held in MMAX Martial Arts, Boxing & Fitness Gym, 11 Vauxhall Chambers, Trinity Street, Dorchester, DT1 1TU (above Iceland).
