Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never done pole fitness before. Can I still come?

Absolutely! Most people joining our beginner classes will be completely new to pole, so you won’t be the only one. No experience is needed—just come along with an open mind and we’ll guide you every step of the way.

I’m not very fit or flexible. Is pole still for me?

Yes! You don’t need to be strong or flexible before you start—that’s exactly what you’ll build through the classes. Everyone works at their own pace, and we’ll always offer options to suit different abilities.

What should I wear?

For pole, shorts and a T-shirt or vest top are ideal, as bare skin helps you grip the pole. If you’re more comfortable in leggings to begin with, that’s absolutely fine too. Please avoid clothing with zips or metal studs, remove jewellery, and don’t apply moisturiser to your hands or legs before class as it makes the poles slippery. Most people train barefoot or in socks.

What happens in a typical class?

Every class starts with a warm-up to get your body ready to move safely. You’ll then learn new spins, climbs, and strength exercises at your own level, with plenty of breaks and encouragement along the way. There’s no pressure to do anything you’re not comfortable with, and everyone progresses at their own pace.

Will I have to perform in front of everyone?

Not at all. Our classes are supportive, relaxed, and completely judgement-free. The studio doesn’t have mirrors, so the focus is on how you feel rather than how you look. Everyone is there to learn, have fun, and celebrate each other’s progress.

Can I come if I have an injury or medical condition?

If you have any injuries, medical conditions, or concerns about taking part, please get in touch before booking. We’ll happily chat through whether the classes are suitable for you and how we can best support you. As with any exercise, you should only attend if you’ve been cleared to do so by your healthcare professional where appropriate.

How do I find you?

You’ll find us inside MMAX Martial Arts, Boxing & Fitness Gym, 11 Vauxhall Chambers, Trinity Street, Dorchester, DT1 1TU, just above Iceland.

Is there parking?

Yes! Parking is available at Iceland, Trinity Street Car Park, or the Co-op Car Park, all just a short walk from the studio.
